Obama Health Care Logo – A Controversial Healthcare Symbol?

Have you seen the new Obama health care logo? Well, if you haven’t, rush over and do a quick search on online for “obama health care logo” and have a look at it.

Then come back and let us know what you think of it, as I have already seen the controversy this started, and this contrinues the trend of the whole obama’s healthcare reform.

Now don’t get me wrong, I believe the nation deserves a sound heathcare system that gives medical aid access to those that need it the most but cannot afford it, but frankly …

… obama’s health care logo might not get a unanimous vote… but enough speculation, I will let the readers like you share their opinion to get the real pulse…

Bloggers across the web have already started to give their opinion about the US healthcare logo, like R Pereira, stating the new symbol resembles the Reichsadler, the symbol of the German National Socialist (NSDAP/Nazi).

Now to me that’s going a bit too far. I think this blogger goes a bit too far in her comparisons, as Mr. Obama’s presidency is far from resembling the 1930s Fuehrer..

So now in addition to the Obama Joker Poster debate, we have a new subject to talk about at dinner: Obama Healthcare Logo…

Before I give my opinion, I would like to get your feedback on the subject, so we stop speculating and start giving the facts about what people think about the health care logo.

It was a mid-July morning when artist Michael Cuffe noticed a sharp jump in website traffic on his Obama themed art site The Obama Experiment. Unknown at the time to Cuffe, the Republican National Committee had launched their own version of a website under the same name with a focus to bring down President Obama’s campaign for health care reform.????

“I actually own The Obama Experiment.com, but the Republicans function under the same name at the another domain very similar to mine,” explained Cuffe. “What’s funny is that they’ve been sending half of their traffic, and been spending thousands to do so, to an National Health Care supportive Obama art website.”

Cuffe has used the sudden jump in traffic to add his own voice to the healthcare debate, by releasing an image he hopes will have much the same effect as artist Shepard Fairey’s well-known red, white, and blue Obama Hope image.

During the 2008 Presidential Campaign he received international recognition for a painting based on The Beatles Sgt. Pepper album cover, which featured the prominent players in the Obama Campaign. The artist sees his Obama Experiment website as a way promote White House policies and programs.

“I’ve already had a wave of angry emails from people who call me a Hitler supporter,” said Cuffe. “Thankfully the amount of support and excitement towards my image has been awesome. The passions expressed across America shows me how directly this issue affects all of us, and I wanted to create an image to capture this moment.”

High premiums and not being able to afford adequate heath insurance hit Cuffe at home for years. “It was instrumental in developing my thirst for a public insurance option.”

When the Republican initiated spike in traffic hit Cuffe’s Obama Experiment website, he felt it was time to develop his own argument for health reform. Painted in a juxtaposition of art nouveau and street art, Cuffe’s “Support Wellness: Nationalize Health Care” poster is intended to excite and invigorate the current debate.

“People have asked me why I’ve focused on the healthcare issue now, especially when many of my art patrons feel otherwise,” said Cuffe. “More than one family member of mine has been denied life saving treatments due to a tired system that focuses more on the bottom line, and less on human life. Even the best insurance offered provides little if you develop many standard cancers. The Insurance companies label everything “experimental” and refuse to fund alternative treatments proven to work. Get sick and see how much your insurance really covers.”

Cuffe’s passion for change is also apparent in the different way in which he creates and displays his art online. Well known for filming many of his paintings, Cuffe draws thousands to his Obama Experiment Videos Page offering a time-lapse glimpse into his studio.

“With all my art, I film it and speed it up, so the viewer can be directly part of my creative process,” said Cuffe. “The Support Wellness painting took over a two weeks to complete, so individuals are always quite impressed to see a painting come together at 100,000 times the original speed.”

When asked what he felt about the Republican version of The Obama Experiment, Cuffe said this: “I see it as a win, win situation. If they’re going to tell people why they are against health care, I am going to tell people why I am for it. Their Obama Experiment dialogue is sending a great deal of people to my Health Care supportive website. I’m just the ying to their yang.”

Barack Obama And The Health Care Issue

Before starting my article I will like to say a few words about health.

“Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.”
“He, who has health, has hope. And he, who has hope, has everything.”
“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”

HEALTH CARE

As a Canadian, I can walk into any hospital in my country and receive medical attention for any illness or injury I may have. We expect free health care in Canada, and we consider it to be a basic right. I believe that Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and almost all European countries have similar health care programs for their citizens, so that all people can receive medical attention when they need it, regardless of their financial situation. The United States does not have free health care for their citizens, and people without health insurance can find themselves unable to receive treatment when they are ill. This seems very strange to me, that a country with so much money, can allow this to happen. I do not consider health care to be something that is “optional”, and the fact that Americans are now debating whether it is worth the cost, and complaining about Barack Obama’s plan to provide health care for all Americans is mind boggling to me! Can you really put a price on health care?

BARACK OBAMA

When Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, I was relieved that the reign of terror (the George Bush years) was over. I think many people around the world felt the same way. Many people said that Obama was cursed, to take over the country when there was so much chaos, and so many problems. There was immediate speculation that Obama would end up as a scapegoat for the mess that was created before him. I truly believe that this has been the case, I think Obama has done more for America than any president since Abraham Lincoln. I think that many people around the world would agree with me, unfortunately, not all of them are American. Only in America could Sarah Palin be taken seriously, the entire world is laughing at the fact that many Americans consider her to be a serious contender for the next president. I have seen several Republicans criticize Obama’s health care plan, not one of them mentioned an alternative plan to provide health care for all Americans.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION

What do Columbia, Chile and The Dominican Republic have in common? They all rank higher on the World Health Organization’s list of the worlds health care systems. Now I would think that Americans should be outraged that their health care system is ranked 37th in the world, and that many third world countries rank higher than the United States. I don’t hear any Republicans talking about this, or even recognizing that it is a problem. Perhaps more funds should be spent on health care and education, and less spent on the military. It seems to me that many Americans that have health insurance, could care less about their neighbors, or maybe even their friends and family that do not.

QUALITY OF LIFE

When I speak to Americans about quality of life, normally they talk about their personal income, their assets and their net worth. It is important to have a good job with a decent salary, a nice house and a new car. I believe that many Americans should be more concerned about the rest of the people in their community, their city and their country. Personal success is wonderful, but if you live with people that do not have access to health care and education, your quality of life will suffer. Countries that spend more money on social programs and make sure that all citizens have access to free health care, enjoy a higher standard of living, a lower crime rate and a more successful society.

This year’s conference theme — ”Closing the Healthcare Divide to Improve Health Outcomes: The Integration of Services, Technology, Finance and Training” — embraced their mission of promoting the advancement and development of Black healthcare leaders by featuring leading Black executives in healthcare as keynotes and panelists, as they discussed elevating the quality of healthcare services rendered to minority and underserved communities. In addition, the President-elect, Denise Brooks-Williams, was sworn in as NAHSE’s new President as she presided over the conference.
