@elfornse In a truly free market, one company would buy up all the roads. Then they would charge whatever they liked. They would make you sign a waiver before you could use the roads to prevent lawsuits. They would spend as little to maintain the roads as they could to maximize their profits. If anybody tried to compete with them, they would buy them out or agree to fix prices so they could both make as much money as possible.

In a free market, Entrepreneurs who provide unsafe goods and services to their customers are liable to get sued, not to mention they don’t want to kill their customers. Thus Entrepreneurs have an incentive to make sure that their road systems are so safe that people don’t die. The Government doesn’t have this incentive because when people die, they can’t get sued
